Thousands expected to leave Ireland to work in Canada in 2014

It has been reported by an RTE news report today that thousands of Irish skilled workers are still leaving the country in search of work in Canada. Record numbers of Irish people are heading to this new land of opportunity. Inspired by Canada’s booming economy and low unemployment levels it is estimated that up to 50,000 Irish born people now live and work there.

According to reports the Canadian government has substantially increased the number of visa’s being issued to Irish workers from 6,350 to 10,700 In 2014. It is expected that up to 14,000 Irish will leave in 2014 in search of work in Canada. Ample employment opportunities in many sectors are attracting Irish workers to Canadian shores ,this has been fuelled by the high unemployment levels in Ireland. Many are expected to stay there for 2 years or more but others it is expected will stay much longer.

It has been reported that over the last 10 years there has been a 30% increaase in the number of Irish nationals becoming permanent residents in Canada
